Profonde et un rien provocante, la musique de la jeune canadienne Kyrie Kristmanson, emprunte de ce qu’on appelle folk moderne, est inclassable et mutante. À mi-chemin de Joni Mitchell et de Pérotin, d’Arvo Pärt et de Karen Dalton, ses chansons sont simplissimes et hypnotiques, et les arrangements d’un jansénisme radical et foudroyant. Par la précision de ses textes on l’a comparé au Canada à son illustre aîné Leonard Cohen, et son premier album, The Kyrie K Groove, autoproduit alors qu’elle avait à peine 17 ans, lui a valu en 2007 le Prix de la meilleure Jeune Artiste au Canadian Folk Music Awards. Elle est la dernière découverte du label NØ FØRMAT !
